| Hypertension- Preeclampsia |
Is the condition when blood pressure increases from 140/90mmHg and above and protein is present in urine. Typical symptom is oedema on face, hands and feet. It usually appears after the 20th week of gestation with a rate of 6-8% of all pregnancies. Other symptoms are headaches, visual disturbances (flashing lights, black dots) and epigastric pain. Pre-eclampsia is also related to high level of haemoglobin, decreased platelets and increased liver enzymes. The causes are yet unknown and remains one of the most severe complications in obstetrics. Therefore, it is important to make an immediate and effective plan of management.
ECLAMPSIA is the condition above followed by clonic seizures and it is an emergency situation.
